aside from the blatant asshandedness of "sweeping" gays under the rug in the 'verse by introducing this truth about Gaeta in webisodes, it's also a crime to not include one of the MAJOR reason for the coup attempt which can only be seen in the webisodes!
Otherwise the rationale Gaeta has is too general. We'd never learn what Baltar said, we'd never learn that Gaeta is not just gay but possible bi (given that he was somewhat interested in the 8 that screwed him...literally)This was a major turning point for a beloved character who has been loyal and put up with alot of prejudice for his role in the government of New Caprica.
That's true! I forgot that! It went a long way for me in explaining Gaeta's mindset when I saw that. That Gaeta would go to such lengths to shield himself from learning the horrible truth about himself was quite the revelation. It also cast a really interesting new light on his character and the mutiny arc, which I saw in part as Gaeta trying to make up for his blindness.
