night in Pulaski Park

millariI reunited with Resourceful after a long stretch of not seeing her. She chatted like a faucet left running wild the whole night as we sat in the park sipping Starbucks iced coffees, or in Packard's. I had three diet cokes and 1 large coffee this evening, hence the late hour of this post.
She so full of vibrance, passion, cynicism that she can barely get it all out in the few hours that we get together and talk. It's a bewildering combination sometimes that just leaves me speechless, which is perhaps what attracts her to my friendship. Sometimes I wish I had stuff pouring out of me like that, so much to say it just spills out the sides of the container.
We dreamtalked about building solar-powered houses, radiant heating and building underground out of things like cob and other alternative materials. She let me share her cigarette, for a few nostalgic puffs on a park bench. The mosquitoes bit us relentlessly; it was great anyway.
The waitress at Packard's let us eat nothing but chicken fingers and sodas and never once gave us the evil eye. She even kept offering to bring us refills, even at 12:30 am.
Bless her.
