The paper purge
Aug. 23rd, 2005 08:43 amYesterday, we had a Professional Organizer (sic) come in to my job, whose task it was to Get Us Organized (tm) before the beginning of the new school year. Apparently, this involves throwing out as much paper as you possibly can stand to part with. Then they measure everything in the room with a Stanley tape measure and take down mysterious notes. Eventually, they move your furniture around on you.
It's kind of like getting an operation. The whole procedure gets explained to you beforehand, but there's no way to really understand the enormity of what's about to befall you until you're in the thick of it. We're just at the paper tossing phase, and already we feel rather overwhelmed. How could we accumulate so much crap in just two years?
The vitals machines are bleeping out of control. I think the nurses need to come in here or something.
